HOW THE GIRAFFE GOT HIS LONG NECK: Long ago, there was a giraffe named Emma. Emma was quite a nice giraffe. All of the animals in the jungle liked her. The only problem with Emma was that she was gullible. She believed everything the animals said. Emma was constantly being tricked by the other animals in the jungle.

One sunny day, Tweety and Sweety, told Emma that they had blue, red and gold striped eggs in their nest. Emma could not quite see into the nest so she stepped onto a big rock next to the tree. When she finally saw the eggs, they were not striped but white.

Emma was sad when she climbed down from the rock. All the animals in the jungle told her stories that were lies. As she was stepping down, her neck got stuck in between two branches. She tried to get it out by pushing and pulling but it would not budge. Ebby, the monkey, was walking by when he saw Emma pushing and pulling and grunting and groaning.

“Hey, Emma! Do you need some help?,” Ebby asked.

Emma grunted, “Yes I sure do. My neck is stuck and I cannot seem to get it out!”

Ebby grabbed Emma’s legs and started to pull. It was not working so he pulled harder and harder. He decided he would go and get King Kong, the ape because he was the strongest animal in the jungle.

King Kong came and he pulled and pulled. He finally got Emma’s head out of the branches but when Emma turned around to look, she saw that her neck had stretched.

Ebby, King Kong, Tweety and Sweety stood staring at Emma. They could not believe their eyes. They were about to laugh when they realised that her neck was now long enough to reach the green, yummy leaves at the tops of the trees. She could now see things that she could not see before. Emma became a very important because she was now able to help animals that got stuck in high places.

Every giraffe in the jungle admired Emma and her long neck. They all went to the giraffe stretching tree to stretch their necks with the help of King Kong and that is how the giraffes got their long necks.
